Robert D. Rauch, P.E.

With a BS in Civil Engineering specializing in surface water hydrology from the University of Maryland, Mr. Rauch began his career in 1974 with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources involved in the development of statewide stormwater management standards and watershed modeling of streams and tidal rivers in Maryland. He served as Maryland’s first coordinator of the Federal Flood Insurance Program. In 1978, Bob became the State’s youngest County Engineer and served six years as Director of Public Works and County Engineer for Talbot County. As County Engineer, he was responsible for the management and supervision of all County construction and development projects, including office complexes, commercial and industrial development, and shopping centers.  Bob oversaw the design and construction of three regional wastewater facilities, the completion of two Master Water and Sewer Plan updates, the creation of commercial building standards and building permit program, and county roads standards.  He served on the County Engineers Association Board of Directors, serving a President in 1983.

In 1984, Bob moved to the private sector, forming Robert D. Rauch & Associates Inc, a Civil Design, Construction Management and Project Scheduling consulting firm. In 1986, he founded the full-service civil design and surveying company of Rauch, Walls and Lane, Inc. and provided consulting services for many residential and commercial development projects on the Delmarva Peninsula from 1986 to 1994. During this same time, Bob operated RWL Development and PTR Construction, a land development and construction company, developing commercial projects in Caroline and Talbot counties.  In 1994 Rauch refocused the design services of Robert D. Rauch & Associates, Inc. on large multi-use residential and comprehensive developments.  The firm was rebranded to RAUCH inc. in 2012 providing a full scope of A/E services with the addition of architectural, MEP, geotechnical and GIS & droning services. Bob and the RAUCH inc. team have provided Construction and Project Management coordination and scheduling services for both industrial and commercial clients, completing comprehensive projects across the Delmarva region.

Mr. Rauch currently serves as the Town Engineer for the towns of Queenstown, Federalsburg, Hebron, and Vienna, MD. In this role, he responsibly prioritizes and guides town projects, sourcing funding for municipal construction and infrastructure upgrades and, providing civil design services and construction administration and inspection services serving at the Towns’ representative.
