Architectural Pre-Design and Feasibilty Project

BAAM / Polaris Village Academy

Project Description

RAUCH inc provided architectural and engineering pre-design services to Building African American Minds (BAAM) for the feasibility analysis for the construction of a new 28,715 sf charter school to accommodate 200 students, located in Easton, MD. The school is planned to be adjacent to the existing BAAM Athletic Center. Services included analysis of this proposed one story vs. two-story school building for grades K 8, including all primary programmatic elements of a school facility including, classrooms, science labs, art and music rooms, cafeteria, multipurpose and lounge areas, gym, library, administrative offices, restrooms, and building and mechanical systems planning. RAUCH inc. assessed parking facilities for school staff as required by the Town of Easton’s Zoning Ordinance as well as site circulation to access adjacent existing BAAM recreation facility and park spaces.

Allowances were included for necessary stormwater management areas. To facilitate traffic flow, the RAUCH inc. team studied vehicular access roads and connections to existing town roads. The team also examined other miscellaneous outbuilding or storage facilities during the programming phase. All public source data for the project was documented and analyzed and preliminary meetings were held with Town regulatory, permitting and zoning agencies. Preliminary projects schedules and budgets were provided.
