Sanitary Sewer Cross Connections

Marshyhope Creek Sanitary Sewer and Stormwater Cross Connections

Project Description

The Town of Federalsburg is dedicated to the elimination of municipal sources of pollution to the Marshyhope Creek. As a result, RAUCH inc. was consulted to address the correction of existing stormwater and sanitary sewer cross connections. The scope began with a similar project on Maple Avenue. In addition to the removal of stormwater from the sanitary sewer collection system, the design provided for the correction of localized drainage problems and improvements to sub-standard streets. Stormwater management structures protected the Marshyhope Creek from pollutants. The final phase was the completion of the Railroad Avenue Project. This project removed the last remaining cross connections and included long overdue street and drainage improvements. Stormwater management structures continue to improve the water quality of the Marshyhope River. To accomplish the goal of keeping cost performance and scheduling performance within project budgets and design estimates, RAUCH inc. incorporated value engineering. The team utilized existing infrastructure, optimizing existing stormwater management structures and designing specification alternatives.
